Profiles in Mobile Guardian allow you to define web filtering settings, device restrictions, and application management for your enrolled devices. These profiles can be applied to all devices, including those for teachers and staff, and can also be configured for classroom use by teachers and parents through the Mobile Guardian for Home product.

Mobile Guardian Profiles Overview
A profile is a set of pre-defined configurations applied to devices at specified times and locations. Profiles can be either baseline or conditional.
#Note: All Devices will have a baseline but may not always have a conditional.
Baseline Profile
The Baseline Profile acts as a "safety net," applying a base set of configurations to all enrolled devices by default. Settings defined here are overridden by conditional profiles unless locked.
Conditional Profile
Conditional profiles offer more granular configurations and restrictions based on specific conditions such as location (geo-fencing) and time. There is no limit to the number of conditional profiles that can be created.
Configuration Sections
- Profile Details: Name, link to a baseline and set the profile to be Limit device tracking or Apply device block to limit screen time.
- What: Configure detailed settings and restrictions.
- Where and When: Set based on coordinates, WiFi SSID, Beacon, or IP range and/or. Define the date range, days of the week, and times of the day.
- Which: Apply profiles to devices based on ownership (home, school, or all) or tags.
#Note: All created profiles are editable and can be managed from the Profiles section. It is recommended that a clear structure for profile management be established to avoid complexity.
District Profiles
District Profiles allow central management of settings by creating baseline and conditional profiles that can be pushed to multiple schools. This ensures consistency and eases management across the district.

School Profiles
School administrators can create a single baseline profile and multiple conditional profiles. Profiles can be applied using tags, home-owned (BYOD) or school-owned filters.
With School profiles, the baseline profile is applied to all devices by default, which is why we refer to it as the Safety Net profile. If a device is not assigned to a conditional profile, it will automatically revert to the baseline. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the baseline profile includes the minimum level of configurations required to keep your devices safe and compliant with your standards.

Teacher Profiles
Our Classroom product allows you to create and manage classes, as well as assign teacher users to these classes.
Once a teacher creates or is assigned to a class, they can log in to the Mobile Guardian dashboard. They will be directed to the teacher dashboard, where they can view their list of classes and create new ones if needed. For detailed instructions on setting up classes,
For more information, refer to:
When a teacher selects a class, they can add content and filtering specific to that class. These settings will apply to all devices that have joined the class. As soon as a device enters the virtual "classroom," the teacher’s class profile will be applied to the device, functioning similarly to a conditional profile.
You'll notice that when a device joins the classroom, the active profile will change to reflect the name of the class.
Once the class ends the device will revert to the school conditional or baseline depending on the rules set out by the school admin in the profiles.
Parent Rules
When a device is used at home and is a home-owned/BYOD device, school admins need to set up the school profiles with the correct school hours. This allows parents to manage the device after school hours.
Profile Switching: Ensure devices stop applying school profiles when after school hours.
Parent Dashboard View: At school, devices will display the active school profile. At home, the parent rules will apply and be visible on the parent dashboard.
School Admin Monitoring: Admins can monitor and manage devices that students take home, ensuring they switch to the appropriate profiles.
By configuring these settings, you can ensure that devices are managed correctly both at school and at home.
Best Practices
- Time Zone: Ensure the correct time zone and school hours are set.
- Network Settings: Allow devices enough time on the network to switch profiles.
- School Hours and Parent Profile Switching: Configure schedules for profile switching.
- Location Accuracy: Set a minimum location accuracy of at least 500 meters.
- Profile Priority: Set profile priority to ensure the correct application of profiles.
- Baseline Profile: Make the baseline profile the most restrictive.
