The Android EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management) solution is designed for school-owned devices, providing IT admins with an extended range of device settings and policy controls. Follow the steps below to view and configure these controls.
Configuring Android EMM Settings in Mobile Guardian
Access Profiles
- Navigate to Profiles: On the left-hand side panel, select "Profiles."
- Select a Profile to Edit: Click on the pencil icon on the far right under the "Actions" column for the profile you want to edit.
Access the Restrictions Option
- Open Restrictions: Click on the "Restrictions" option for the selected profile.
- Open Android Tab: Click on the "Android" tab to access Android-specific restriction settings.
Legacy Settings vs. EMM Settings
Legacy Settings: Apply to all Android devices.
EMM Settings: Apply only to EMM-enrolled devices.
You can activate any of the restrictions and click on the "SAVE" button at the bottom of the screen. The settings will be applied when you next perform a device sync.

Application Management
- Open all Weblinks in Mobile Guardian: Choose which browser app automatically opens all web links.
- Block Application Management: Prevent users from uninstalling or modifying managed apps.
- Block Uninstall Application: Prevent users from uninstalling apps.
- Block Install Application: Prevent users from installing apps.
- Block Install Unknown APK: Prevent users from installing APK files.
- Force Google Play Protect: Enable Verify Apps on devices.
Audio Settings
- Mute Managed Device: Control device audio features, including muting the device and preventing users from adjusting volume settings.
- Prevent User from Modifying Device Volume Settings: Restrict volume adjustments.
- Prevent User from Unmuting Device Microphone: Restrict microphone use.
Connectivity Configuration
- Block Cell Broadcasts Configuration: Disable cell broadcasts.
- Block Modification of Mobile Network Settings: Prevent modifications to mobile network settings.
- Block Resetting of All Network Settings: Prevent resetting of network settings.
- Block Bluetooth Connection Configuration: Prevent changes to Bluetooth connections.
- Block Modifying Auto Time Zones and Time: Enforce system auto time settings.
- Block Account Modification: Prevent adding or modifying accounts.
- Block Factory Reset: Prevent factory resetting of the device.
- Block Custom Accessibility Service: Control what accessibility services can be enabled.
Device Connectivity Options
- Block Use of Device Cameras by Managed Apps: Disable camera use by managed apps.
- Block Screenshots and Recordings: Prevent taking screenshots and screen recordings.
- Block Access to Tethering and Portable Hotspots: Prevent using the device as a hotspot.
- Block Outgoing Phone Calls (excluding emergency calls): Block outgoing calls except emergency calls.
- Block Send and Receive SMS Messages: Prevent sending and receiving SMS messages.
- Block Cellular Data While Roaming: Restrict cellular data usage while roaming.
- Block Mounting Physical External Media: Prevent mounting physical external media.
- Block NFC Beam: Prevent sharing data via NFC beam.
- Block File Transfer via USB: Prevent transferring files over USB.
- Block Airplane Mode: Prevent enabling airplane mode.
Screen Lock & Location Sevices Mode
- Disable Secure Camera: Control advanced device keyguard features.
- Disable Secure Notifications: Restrict notifications.
- Disable Un-redacted Notifications: Restrict notifications.
- Disable Fingerprint: Disable fingerprint unlock.
- Block Smart Lock Management: Control smart lock settings.
- WiFi Sleep Policy: Set the WiFi timeout.
- Lock Screen Message: Set a custom message on the lock screen.
- Location Service Mode: Enforce a specific location-sharing setting.
- Short Support Message: Set a short message in the Mobile Guardian restriction pop-up.
- Long Support Message: Set a long message in the Mobile Guardian restriction pop-up.
