Configuring Safe Content and Web Filtering

Safe Content and Web Filtering help block explicit or inappropriate content, ensuring that end-users only access permitted sites. Follow this step-by-step guide to configure these settings in your Mobile Guardian Dashboard.

Steps to Configure Safe Content and Web Filtering

Access Profiles

  • Log into your Mobile Guardian Dashboard.
  • Navigate to "Profiles" on the left-hand side panel.



Edit a Profile

  • Select a Profile to Edit:

You can edit an existing Conditional profile or the Baseline profile to add Safe Content and Web Filtering.

#Note: Applying these settings to the Baseline profile will affect all devices. Applying them to a Conditional profile will only affect devices with that specific profile active.

  • Click the Edit (Pencil) Icon next to the desired profile under "Actions".



Configure Safe Content

  • Select "Safe Content" in the profile settings.

  • Enable Safe Content:
    • Check the "Enable web filter" checkbox.
    • Check the "Enable safe browsing" checkbox.
    • Click "Save".

 

Configure Web Filtering

When selecting the "Enable web filter", this will display the "Allowed list & Blocklist" tab.

 

 

  • Configure Categories:
    • You may select from the following pre-configured category configurations. To start defining custom category block lists and allowed lists, choose the "None" option.

 

 

#Note: Configuring the categories section will allow you to blacklist or whitelist thousands of websites

 

Configure categories by selecting or deselecting the desired options. When a parent category is selected, all sub-categories are checked, but you can exclude individual subcategories. 

  • Add Blacklist Categories and URLs:
    • Under "Categories, Blacklist", use the drop-down menu to add categories to be filtered.
    • Add specific URLs to be blocked.
    • Click "Add". 

You can add multiple categories and URLs.

 

#Note: Blocking a domain blocks the entire domain, whereas adding a URL to the blacklist blocks only that specific URL.

 

 

Save Your Configuration

  • Finalise and Save:
    • Once you've added the desired categories and URLs, click the back arrow in the top left corner to save your additions automatically.

 

 

You have now successfully configured Safe Content and Web Filtering on your Mobile Guardian Dashboard.
