This guide will provide you with some insights to managing your passwords and using 2FA with your Mobile Guardian account. 

Simple Best Practices

Below are a few key methods to use when creating passwords.:

  1. Password Length:
    • Use 12-16 characters or more: Longer passwords are harder to crack.
    • Use phrases or a series of unrelated words: e.g., PurpleBananaDancingUnderTheMoon!
    • Outdated protection: Leet-speak, e.g., (p@$$w0rd) is still used; however, it is easily bypassed by cybercriminals as their tools have evolved.
  2. Password Structure:
    • With changing your Mobile Guardian password, the suggested password format would be to include the special characters and numbers within in the password: e.g., Purple_cloud9!Banana*desk
  3. Unique Passwords for Every Account:
    • Refrain from using the same password across multiple accounts.
  4. Beware of Phishing:
    • Beware of fake emails or websites (phishing) to trick you into revealing your login credentials.
    • Always double-check the sender and website URL before entering any personal information. If it looks suspicious, do not interact with it.
  5. Keep Software Updated:
    • Ensure your operating system, web browser, and antivirus software are always up-to-date. These updates often include critical security patches that protect against vulnerabilities.
