Mobile Guardian Release Notes | 14 June 2024

We released a new update to our Mobile Guardian platform on the 14th of June 2024.

 

In this release, we updated the Mobile Guardian Chrome extension to version 2.2.67 along with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to version 2. This upgrade will enhance the performance and reliability of communication between the Mobile Guardian platform and devices.

Firebase Cloud Messaging Update

Upgrading to Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) version 2 secures ongoing compatibility and adherence with the most recent standards and protocols to elevate the overall security and reliability of Mobile Guardian. 

 

For Mobile Guardian, this update introduces enhancements and optimisations in sustaining messaging reliability, performance, and security. FCM version 2 provides a more resilient and efficient communication platform for delivering notifications and messages to our users across various devices and platforms.

 

Required action:

Please update to the new extension version: Version 2.2.67

Chrome Extension Update

In addition to the FCM version 2 improvements, our latest Chrome Extension enhances connectivity and user experience across a number of features of Mobile Guardian.  

  1. An issue of students encountering the "Services Unavailable" page has been resolved, ensuring uninterrupted access through refined API endpoint updates for security. 
  2. Performance improvements and a strategic overhaul of the Active Class Messaging service guarantee smoother operations, accompanied by feature locks to prevent message duplication. 
  3. Notably, Student Screenshare now offers streamlined switching between desktop and canvas streams, tailored for local and remote connections. 
  4. Tab Control refinements also optimise browsing experiences, ensuring tab updates occur post-HTML rendering while resolving the previously persistent intervals on the Block page.
