Configuring VPN Network Settings

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) ensures that all data is transmitted via a secured channel, requiring authentication or a certificate to establish connectivity. VPNs are essential for users to reach the corporate network from anywhere. As an administrator, you need to configure a VPN for all managed mobile devices.

 

#Note: Before creating a new network for a profile, make sure you have the connection details you will need at hand.

 

#Note: If your device connects through a Proxy then this MUST BE CONFIGURED IN THE BASELINE PROFILE

 

Configuring a VPN for Managed Mobile Devices

Access Profiles

  • Navigate to Profiles: On the left-hand side panel, select "Profiles."
  • Select a Profile to Edit: Click on the pencil icon on the far right under the "Actions" column for the profile you want to edit.

 

Access the Network Option

  • Network Option: Once directed to the “Set up” page, click on the “Network” option.

 

Select the VPN Tab

  • VPN Tab: On the network page, select the VPN tab.
  • Add New: Click on the "Add New" button on the top right corner of the window.

 

Specify VPN Configuration Options

  1. VPN Details: A pop-up window will appear requiring you to enter your VPN details:
    • Connection Name: Display name of the connection (displayed on the device).
    • Connection Type: Select the type of connection enabled by this policy: L2TP, PPTP, or IPSEC.
    • Server: Hostname or IP address for the server.
    • Shared Secret: Shared secret for the connection.
    • User Authentication: Select Password or RSS Secure ID.

 

  1. Machine Authentication: Select Certificate or Shared Secret.
    • Account: User account for authenticating the connection.
    • Send All Traffic: Enable to route all network traffic through the VPN connection.
    • Proxy Type: Configures proxy to be used for this VPN: Manual, Auto, or None.

 

  1. Proxy Configuration:
    • Manual: Optional Username and password can be added for Proxy Type Manual.



  • Auto: Proxy Server URL required for Proxy Type Auto.

 

Save Settings

  • Save: Once you have filled in the required details, click on the "Save" button to save your settings.
  • VPN List: Once the VPN has been saved, it will appear in the VPN list.
