Mobile Guardian allows you to create geofences or zones based on location to govern device restrictions. Zones can be identified by Beacon, SSID, GPS coordinates, or IP Range. Follow this guide to create and manage zones in your Mobile Guardian School Dashboard.
Creating and Managing Geofences/Zones in Mobile Guardian
Accessing the Zones Section
- Log into the Mobile Guardian School Dashboard: Use your admin credentials to log in.
- Navigate to Zones: On the left-hand side panel, click on "Zones".
Adding a New Zone
- Add New Zone: On the top right corner of the Zone page, click on "Add New".
Fill in Zone Details:
- Name: Enter the name of the zone (mandatory).
- Description: Enter a description (optional).
- Notifications: Specify if notifications should be sent when the device enters or leaves the zone by enabling/disabling the corresponding slider.
Configuring the Zone
- Choose Zone Type: You can add a zone based on Coordinates, SSID, Beacon, or IP Range.
Configure the Selected Zone Type:
- Coordinates: Select the coordinates for the address or search for the location on the map. You can expand the radius from the default 400m.
- SSID: Specify the name of the wireless connection or the MAC address of the Wireless Access Point. This triggers a notification when a device comes within range or leaves this network (e.g., School-Wifi).
- Beacon: Add your Global Unique Identifier (GUID) and the Major and Minor integer values.
- IP Range: Enter the IP range of a network. A notification is triggered if the device's IP changes to/from an IP not in the specified range.
Saving the Zone
Add Zone: Once you have filled in the specifications for your selected zone, click on "ADD Zone" in the bottom right corner.
Managing Existing Zones
- Edit Zone: To make changes to an existing zone, click on the edit/pencil icon on the right-hand side of that particular zone.
- Delete Zone: To delete a zone, click on the bin/remove icon.
You have now successfully added a new zone to your Mobile Guardian Dashboard.
