If you need to capture logs from an iOS device using Apple Configurator 2, follow these steps:
Install Apple Configurator 2
- First, download and install Apple Configurator 2 from the App Store. Once installed, launch the application.
Connect Your iOS Device
- Use a USB cable to connect your iOS device to the Mac. On your device, you’ll be prompted to trust the computer. Tap Trust on the device screen.
Select Your Device
- By default, all connected devices will appear on the home screen of Apple Configurator 2. Locate the device you wish to obtain logs from. You can either double-click the device or right-click on it and select Get Info.
Access the Console
- In the new window that appears, click on Console from the menu in the top left corner. This will display the live log activities from your iOS device.
Capture Logs
- Before reproducing the issue, click on Clear to reset the console screen. Then, perform the actions that are causing the problem (e.g., triggering an app crash or another malfunction). Logs will be generated in the console while you replicate the issue.
Save the Logs
Once you’ve captured the necessary logs, click on the Save button to save the log file to your Mac.
You should now have a log file ready for analysis or troubleshooting.
