Bulk actions in the Devices tab provide an efficient way to manage multiple devices on your Mobile Guardian dashboard simultaneously. This feature is designed to streamline the process of applying changes across all selected devices, saving time and effort.
How to Access Bulk Actions
- Navigate to the Devices tab.
- Select the devices you wish to manage.
- Click the Actions button to view the available bulk actions.
Available Bulk Actions for iOS Devices
When you access the bulk actions, you can perform a variety of tasks on your selected iOS devices. The initial options include:
- Refresh Selected Devices: Refreshes the devices and re-applies all profiles and settings from the dashboard.
- Device Information Request: Updates the dashboard with the latest information from the selected devices.
- Get Installed Applications: Scans the devices for installed applications and updates the Installed Applications list.
- Add Tags: Adds specified tags to the selected devices.
- Add Mobile Guardian Filter: Applies the Mobile Guardian Web filter to the selected devices.
- Remove Tags: Remove any tags previously applied to the selected devices.
Additional Bulk Actions
Scroll down within the Actions menu to access more options:
- Remove Selected Devices: Remove devices from the dashboard. Only use this after MDM has been removed.
- Remove Mobile Guardian Filter: Deactivate the Mobile Guardian Web Filter on the selected devices.
- Turn Bluetooth On/Off: Toggles Bluetooth on or off for the selected devices.
- Create Inventory Record: Generates an inventory list of the selected devices.
- Flush MDM Messages: Clears any MDM messages awaiting acknowledgement, “Not Now” commands, or other commands that could block new MDM commands.
- Stop Single App Mode: Forcefully exits Single App Mode that was enabled from a profile.
Final Bulk Action Options
Further scrolling reveals additional actions:
- Repush Rename Device: Resend the auto-renaming command to the selected devices.
- Class Device: Prepares the devices for use with Apple Classroom.
- Vacation Mode: Enables or disables Vacation Mode on selected devices.
- Remove MDM: Removes Mobile Device Management from the devices.
- Check OS Updates: Checks for any available OS updates on the selected devices.
- Trigger OS Updates: Initiates an OS update on the selected devices.
- Check OS Update Status: Verifies the OS update status of the selected devices.
Additional Features
If you have DEP-enrolled devices, an option to bulk release these devices from your Apple School Manager is also available.
Monitoring Bulk Actions
You can track the progress and detailed results of your bulk actions in the Bulk Action Queue. The queue provides visibility into the status of each action, showing whether actions are queued, pending, or completed, along with detailed results for each device.
