Hierarchical Profile Locks in the District Dashboard brings a new level of control to managing restrictions across multiple schools. With this feature, District administrators can dictate which restrictions are enforced district-wide and which can be managed by School administrators. Here's how it works:
Padlock Enforcement
In the Profiles section of the District Dashboard, each restriction is accompanied by a padlock icon. Clicking on this icon reveals the following options:
- Red Padlock: Enforces the restriction across all schools and prevents changes by School admins. It cannot be overridden by other profiles.
- Amber Padlock: Restricts changes by School admins but allows the restriction to be overridden by other active profiles.
- Green Padlock: Allows School admins to edit the restriction within the profile.
Example Scenarios
- District-level Camera Block: If the District admin wants to block camera usage, they enforce the 'Disable Camera' restriction with a Red padlock. This ensures the camera is disabled across all schools and cannot be changed by School admins or other profiles.
- Delegated Camera Control: If the District admin wants to disable the camera by default but allows School admins to enable it if needed, they use an Amber padlock. This blocks the camera while the Baseline profile is active but permits School admins to override it using a conditional profile.
These Hierarchical Profile Locks provide flexible control over restrictions, empowering District admins to enforce policies while delegating specific decisions to School-level admins.
