Jailbroken devices allow students to run untrusted code or delay software updates on iOS or Android devices. The Mobile Guardian application can detect when a device has been jailbroken and alert the school administrator.
How Jailbroken Devices Are Indicated
When an iOS or Android device has been jailbroken, the school dashboard will alert the administrator. A red thunderbolt indicator (red lightning icon) will display for the jailbroken device. When the device is repaired, the indicator will change to grey.
Where the Jailbroken Indicator Appears
The jailbroken indicator is displayed in two places on the dashboard:
- Device List
- Device Details Screen
Examples of the Jailbroken Indicator
Device List
In the device list, the indicator will appear in red if the device has been jailbroken.
Device Details Screen
A normal state in the device detail screen shows no red thunderbolt indicator.
A jailbroken device will show the red thunderbolt indicator on the device details screen.
Monitoring for jailbroken devices ensures that the school's network and data remain secure. The Mobile Guardian dashboard provides clear indicators for quick identification and resolution of jailbroken devices.
