Parent permissions groups are designed to empower schools to grant selected permissions to parents, allowing them to manage their child’s device outside of school hours. These permissions are controlled at the district level, while schools handle the assignment of parents to appropriate groups.
Key Points:
- District-Level Control: Permission groups are managed at the district level. Schools can only assign parents to these predefined groups.
- Single Group Assignment: A parent can only belong to one permission group per school. If a parent is linked to multiple schools, the most restrictive permissions will apply.
- Default Assignment: New parents are automatically assigned to a default permissions group upon creation, and administrators can reassign them as needed.
Assigning Parents to Permission Groups:
- Parents must be assigned to groups individually at the school level. The district manages the overall group structure and permissions.
New Parent Setup:
- A parent can be invited via the school portal. Once created, they are assigned to the default parent group, which the administrator can modify if necessary.
