Instant Actions allow teachers to keep lessons on track by locking devices, forcing eyes up, messaging a student, or blocking all traffic. Instant actions are restricted to iOS, Android, and Chromebook devices.
Available Instant Actions
The following options are available when using Instant actions in class. You can select instant actions for one student or the entire class.
- Direct Message (All)
- Lock Devices (Android)
- Eyes Up and Eyes Down (All)
- Single App Mode (iOS Only)
- Mirror Devices (iOS Only)
- Manage Tabs (ChromeOS/Android)
- Share Student/Teacher Screen (Chrome/Android/Windows)
- Bluetooth Control (iOS Only)
Direct Message (All)
The direct message option allows you to send one-way messages to student's devices while your class is active.
Here's how to do it!
- Select the students you would like to message, using the tick boxes
- Click on the Message button
- In the pop-up window type in the message in the space provided

Click Send.
Conversely, you can message an individual student by clicking on the Message icon on their card.
Lock Devices (Android Only)
As a Teacher, you have the ability to lock any student's device during a lesson. This is a handy feature when you need them to stay off the device and interact during a lesson.
- Simply select the Student(s) devices you would like to lock using the tick boxes
- Click the Lock button.
By initiating this action the student's device will display the device Lock screen. Conversely, you can lock an individual student's device by clicking on the Lock icon on their card.
Eyes Up and Eyes Down (All)
The Eyes Up and Eyes Down action is another handy action to use when you need to quickly get students' attention during the class.
When enabling this action, your selected student(s) devices will display an Eyes Ups Screen alerting students to please pay attention to the activities in the classroom.
To enable eyes up/down you must do the following
- Select the student(s) that you would like to activate eyes up, alternatively, select the tick for all devices.
- Select the eyes up icon on either the toolbar or on the student card
This instant action is available for iOS, Chromebook, and Android devices.
Single App Mode (iOS only)
Single App Mode is a feature for supervised iOS devices, it restricts the device to run only one app. While Single app mode is enabled, the Mobile guardian app will remain in the foreground.
Teachers can set all iOS devices to Single app mode for improved student focus during lessons, tests, and exams.
To apply Single app mode to selected devices:
- Select the relevant Students to apply this instant action
- Click the Single app mode button on the toolbar
- Select the Application you wish to run and the action will now be applied.
To end Single app mode, select the relevant students and click on the Stop Single app mode button on the toolbar or student card.
Manage Tabs (Chrome/Android)
The Manage Tabs feature gives you as the teacher the visibility and control of all open tabs running in your class session.
You have the ability to view, open, and dismiss browser tabs on a particular student's Chromebook or all students within a session.
Share Student/Teacher Screen (Chrome/Android/Windows)
In the event you would like to share your screen with all your students, the classroom dashboard allows you to select the relevant screen and share it with all the Chromebook devices in your class.
Chromebook Classroom also allows the teacher the ability to share one of their student's screens with the rest of the classroom. This might be useful when any of the students are presenting a piece of work in class and need to demonstrate it on their device.
Bluetooth Control (iOS Only)
The Bluetooth Instant action allows you to enable and disable the Bluetooth function on any iOS device that is logged into your class.
