Different schools will have different policies with regards to Parental control in the event they intend to allow the Students to take home their devices.
Mobile Guardian allows the school to decide what is best for their particular Parental program.
The School admin has the option to configure a View Only Mode for Parent. Let us have a look at what this setting means and what it will impact when enabled.
Enabling the View Only Mode Setting
Mobile Guardian allows schools to link parents to their children's devices and create a parental account for these parents.
The Parental Control console allows the parents to take control of the device when it is at home.
Parents can complete the following tasks:
- Configure web filtering restrictions
- Block and allow applications
- Set and apply rules
- Block the device
Parents can view the following data:
- View Web Filter Report
- View Location information
There are specific cases when a School or District would chose to disable the ability for a Parent to have such extensive control. In these cases, the Admin can enable the View Only Mode.
When this setting is enabled, all actions and controls on Parental Console will be disabled.
Important to Note: When an Admin enables this setting, Outside of School hours all devices will fall back to either the school Baseline or relevant conditional.
When this setting is applied, it has the following impact.:
- After "school hours", the school will remain in control of the device.
- Parents will not be able to complete any of the above tasks.
How to enable this setting
1. Log in to your School Admin Dashboard
2. Navigate to the Settings menu item > Global Preferences
