Mobile Guardian has integrated Google Drive into the Classroom management dashboard. This will allow you to share files with your students in your class.
Google drive lets you store files securely online, access them from anywhere and collaborate with others.
Please note: Google Drive integration is only present during an active class. You will need to start your class and navigate to the Google Drive icon on your dashboard.
Authorise the linking between Mobile Guardian and your Google drive to start sharing.
On completing the authorization, you will be presented with your Google Drive.
Please note: You will only be able to share files owned by you.
Select the files you want to share and click share. A notification will be sent to the student's device and will be available for viewing.
You can share files using the Push Content instant action.
Different file formats will be accessible via different channels on your student's devices, below is a breakdown per OS on what they should expect.
Android
- Google docs/slides/sheets, MP4, MP3 and PNG formats will open up with automatically with a preview and provide a download button to view the document.
- Other file formats e.g.zip or exe. will not provide a preview but you can download to view.
ChromeOS
- Google docs/slides/sheets will open up automatically on the devices
- Audio, Video and Text formats will open up with a preview and provide a download button (PDF, MP4, MP3 and PNG file formats).
iOS
- Google docs/slides/sheets will open up automatically on the devices
- MP4, PDF and PNG formats will open up with automatically with a preview and provide a download button to view the document.
- MP3 will open up the audio in a separate tab when the file is downloaded.
Please Note: At the end of your class session all files shared within google drive will revert to their previous sharing/privacy settings.
This means that if a file was private before you shared it with the class, it will revert to being private and will not be accessible after class.
Therefore we would suggest that any homework files you need your students to access outside of the class session should be shared and made public after your class.
