The Activity Timeline offers teachers another way to ensure that all their students are quite literally on the same page.
With a quick glance, you can ensure that students have the correct website open. This is especially handy when giving a quiz and making sure students don’t hunt around the web for answers.
Activity Timeline displays browsing information for ChromeOS devices, Android and iOS. To learn more about what information is displayed per OS please scroll down to the bottom of this guide.
With the Activity Timeline, you can also scroll back through the timeline to see what sites students spent time on during class.
The Live Activity Timeline will be accessible during all classes. Let's take a look at the various features and functions.
The bars change colour to match the active sites and applications. Your active students are represented on the left-hand side, as soon as they start browsing online or using chrome applications; the activity timeline will start displaying their information.
note: You can sort by the student's online status, first or last name.
i. Scrolling through the Timeline
With the Activity Timeline, you can also scroll back through the timeline to see what sites students spent time on during class.
To scroll back through your class, simply click on the Back Arrow to the specific time period.
To return to live activity simply scroll forward to the current time.
ii. Zooming into the Timeline
You can use the Zoom feature to expand specific time periods. This feature will allow you to view browsing or application activity that might have been active for just a single minute.
Simply click the Zoom icon to change the zoom scale of the timeline.
iii. Displaying Activity information
And finally, you can click on any of the bars to display more details about the activity. The pop up should display the site or application name and URL and the time spent on the activity.
Activity Timeline for ChromeOS
The Activity Timeline for ChromeOS devices will track and display all browsing activity performed on the device. This includes:
- Chrome browsing
- All Chrome Web Applications
- Chrome Applications
- Mobile Guardian application tabs
- Mobile Guardian Safe Browser
Activity Timeline for Android
The Activity Timeline for Android devices will track and display all browsing activity performed on the device when students use the following applications:
- Mobile Guardian Application tabs
- Mobile Guardian Safe Browser
Activity Timeline for iOS
The Activity Timeline for iOS devices will track and display all browsing activity performed on the device when students use the following applications:
- Mobile Guardian Application tabs
- Mobile Guardian Safe Browser
- Browsers with Webkit plugin
