After setting up Android EMM for your organization, achieving full control over your devices requires performing a factory reset. This step is crucial as it ensures the highest level of device management. Here’s how to proceed:
To begin the enrollment process for your factory reset Android device with Mobile Guardian, follow these detailed steps:
1. Power On Your Device
Upon powering on your factory reset device, you will be greeted with the Google sign-in screen. Enter the email address and password of the student who has been added to the Organizational Unit.
2. Sign In with Student Credentials
Input the student's email address on the Google sign-in screen, followed by the password. After entering the login details, continue with the installation prompts by selecting “I Agree”. This is sometimes dependent on the device itself, so your screen might look slightly different, but for the most part, they are fairly similar.
3. Acknowledgement Steps
Follow the on-screen steps that may vary slightly depending on the device. Generally, you will see a screen stating that your account is managed and that your IT admin uses Mobile Device Management to enforce security policies. Select "Next" to continue.
4. Select Device Usage
When prompted on how you will use the device, choose the "Work" option to enable full management by the Mobile Guardian Application.
5. Finish Workspace Setup
After selecting "Work," you will see a screen featuring the Mobile Guardian Application. Select "Continue" to finalize setting up your workspace.
6. Acknowledge Privacy Notices
A screen will appear indicating that the device is not private, listing device activity, data, app permissions, etc. Select "Next" to proceed to the page listing all Google services. Select "Accept."
7. Open Mobile Guardian App
The next screen will prompt you to open the Mobile Guardian App. Select "Next" to open the app. If you are taken to the device's home screen, swipe down from the top and select the Mobile Guardian App.
8. Scan QR Code for Enrollment
8.1 Open the Mobile Guardian dashboard on another device, navigate to "Devices" > "Add New School Device," and select the Android tab.
8.2 Select the correct region and select “Scan”. Using your Android device, scan the unique QR code that appears on this page. Alternatively, you can manually enter the account code below the QR code.
9. Complete Activation
Once you have scanned the QR code or entered the account code, enter the name of the device, and accept the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. Select "Activate" to complete the setup process.
10. Enable Required Permissions
The Mobile Guardian App will now open. Enable necessary permissions such as Location Settings
and Admin Permissions to ensure the app functions correctly.
11. Verify Enrollment
Open the menu in the top left-hand corner of the Mobile Guardian App and select "About." This screen will show the name of the school the device is enrolled to and the active profile on the device.
12. View Enrolled Devices
In the Mobile Guardian dashboard, navigate to "All Devices" to see the newly enrolled device. The device name will appear as entered during the setup.
13. Verify Student Details
Navigate to the "Students" section to see the details of the student associated with the enrolled device. This confirms that the student and device have been successfully enrolled in the Mobile Guardian Dashboard.
Congratulations! You have now successfully enrolled an EMM device with the Mobile Guardian Dashboard, enabling full management capabilities for the device.
