In Mobile Device Management (MDM) the device sits at the centre of our universe. Everything is linked to it and revolves around it. This is why the device enrollment process is very important. The extension of this would be who is allowed to use the device, what we allow the device to actually do, where is can do it as well as when it can do it.
To manage your devices using the Mobile Guardian MDM platform, you need to enroll the desired devices. There are a number of enrollment methods you can choose from and it all depends on your desired level of management, the types of devices and operating systems running on those devices as well as who owns the device. As you can see, there are many permutations to consider when enrolling a device.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) lets users enroll their own devices onto a school account, these are also referred to home-owned devices. School-owned devices are the property of the school. The school can then provide a device per user, known as 1:1, or can rotate devices among users or have devices sitting in a classroom, known as a shared device. There can also be a number of alternative variations of these device usage scenarios based on the device usage policy of the school.
The enrollment options available on the platform are clearly labelled to make the enrollment process as smooth as possible. The Mobile Guardian platform currently supports enrollment for iOS, macOS, Android and Chromebook devices.
